Emma Kate Baxter trained at East 15 and has appeared in numerous productions over the past five years. Her 2009 credits include The Dagger (Found), Euphemia (Please Do Not Feed The Ladies), Gates (Deception, Illusion & Nate) & Julia (The Two Gentlemen of Verona). Emma is currently writing her first play: Forgotten, about Anne Marshall. Emma played the Venetian Harlot Poet, Veronica Franco for the full run of Five Clever Courtesans.
Sarah Blake is the founder and Artistic Director of Cabinets of Curiosity, as well as the writer and director of ‘Found’, ‘Please Do Not Feed the Ladies’ and ‘Five Clever Courtesans’. She originally studied English Literature at UCL and later trained as an actor at Drama Studio London. After unforeseen circumstances led to ‘Five Clever Courtesans’ being left with a cast member down, Sarah played Nell Gwynn for three performances at the Hoffart Theatre in Darmstadt, Germany. She had a hoot.
Renata Byrne’s credits include the lead role in Hedda Gabler (dir. Paul McNeilly), Prudence in Beyond Therapy (dir: Wilson Hau) and Mother Morgan in Sacred Heart (dir. Sam Romero). In 2009, she appeared in the Cabinets of Curiosity production, Found – Objects from the River Thames (dir. Sarah Blake), playing a Restoration Wig Curler. Renata played the audacious adventuress, Cora Pearl, in London, Brighton and Darmstadt.

Ava Lyn Koh trained at Brandeis University, USA on scholarship. US roles include: Old Woman/Boy in ‘Good Person of Setzuan’ and Sprite in ‘Love of Don Perlimplin’. In Singapore she played Madam Tan in ‘Mahjong’ and Sylvia Plath in ‘An Evening of Sylvia Plath’ and, in the UK, Olivia in ‘Twelfth Night’ (Chrysalis Theatre) and Cheng I-Sao in ‘Treasure Island’ at The Space. Film & TV Credits: voice of Darian in ‘Witchville’ and title role Lily in ‘True Files’. Ava played T’zu-Hsi in Darmstadt and at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Suni La trained at ALRA (Academy of Live and Recorded Arts). Her theatre work includes Three Minute Hero at The Cock Tavern (London New Play Festival), The Strong Breast Revolution at the 2009 Edinburgh Festival Fringe (Canuk Theatre Company), and Sohostreets (Soho Theatre). Her recent work for TV includes Beamups, Buy in UK and Crimewatch. Suni played the Concubine Empress, T’zu-Hsi, in London and Brighton.
Jennifer Laine graduated from Drama Studio London last year and has appeared in Oliver (Lion and Unicorn Theatre), Hall (site-specific production at Hornsey Town Hall) and Found – Objects from the River Thames (The Electrician’s Shop). Her roles while training have included Olivia in Twelfth Night, Hermione in A Winter’s Tale and Nina in The Seagull. Jenny played the Victorian leader of fashion, Catherine ‘Skittles’ Walters for the full run of Five Clever Courtesans.

Claire-Monique Martin studied Acting at UCLAN and graduated in 2010. Her professional credits include a previous Cabinets of Curiosity production, ‘Found’ (Trinity Buoy Wharf, 2009). Claire-Monique joined the cast as the Goddess Venus, opening every show with a live performance of Purcell’s ‘She Loves and She Confesses Too’. She also understudied all five courtesans for the Edinburgh Fringe.

Romily Turner trained at Drama Studio London and graduated in 2007. She has most recently been seen as a luscious blonde in the Boots 2009 Christmas advert and her previous roles include Madame Danzard in My Sister In This House (Greenwich Playhouse) and Lady Markby in Oscar Wilde’s An Ideal Husband (radio production for Resounding Media). Romily played the enchanting actress, Nell Gwynn, in London and Brighton.

 

Natasha White trained at Drama Studio London and has since played Helena in ‘Look Back in Anger’ (European Arts Company), Isabella Thorpe in Northanger Abbey (Black Ram) and Berthe in ‘Who Will Carry the Word?’ (Courtyard Theatre). She has most recently been seen as a double-bass playing Cat Chorus in ‘Beak Street’ at the Tabard Theatre and Theatre Delicatessen (Deadwood Productions). Natasha played Cora Pearl for the Edinburgh Fringe.

 

The Front House Mollys

In addition to the main cast, the original run of Five Clever Courtesans at the Vibe Bar, Brick Lane, was supplemented by an irrepressible band of Front House Mollys – Queens of Misrule and Gaiety Girls Extraordinaire – who  delighted audiences with their pre-show antics... and mid-show heckling.
